Sealaska Heritage Institute (SHI) is a regional Native nonprofit organization founded for the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people of Southeast Alaska. Conceived by Clan Leaders, Traditional Scholars and Elders, the mission of the Institute was expressed with these memorable words:
"We don't want what you did here to only echo in the air, how our grandfathers used to do things... Yes. You have unwrapped it for us. That is why we will open again this container of wisdom left in our care."
Sealaska Corp. contracted S2N Media to create the website that presents this "container of wisdom". Using motifs and color schemes derived from the Native art traditions of Southeast Alaska, S2N produced a striking design which provides information about cultural and educational programs for the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples, while maintaining the low bandwidth profile appropriate for its intended audience.
